2010 Minority Scholarship Recipients

     
  The OHSAA Foundation provides six $1,000 minority scholarships for a student-athlete from each athletic district.  The following students were awarded minority scholarships at the June 18, 2010 banquet.  
     
 

 

CENTRAL DISTRICT

  

 Kim-My Thai Li (Columbus St. Francis De Sales)
Kim-My competed in girls tennis throughout her high school career at St. Francis De Sales, where she earned four varsity letters and graduated with a 4.0 GPA. Kim-My was All-League each year in high school and her senior year she qualified for the 2009 Girls State Tennis Tournament where she became a doubles champion. She plans to attend The Ohio State University to study pharmacy.

 

EAST DISTRICT

    

Carli Nicholson (Magnolia Sandy Valley)
Carli was ranked number one in the 2010 graduating class of Sandy Valley High School and earned a 4.0 GPA. She lettered four times as a member of the Lady Cardinals softball team and three times in basketball. Carli and the Lady Cardinals were crowned regional champs in softball her junior year. She would later be named All-League in basketball her senior year. Carli plans to study pharmaceutical sciences at The Ohio State University.
 

NORTHEAST DISTRICT

Conner Paez (Solon)
Connor earned four letters in cross country and four letters in track and field, while attaining a 4.37 GPA at Solon High School. Connor competed in the state cross country meet in his junior and senior years and finished as state runner-up in the 2009 season. Connor will study medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.
 

NORTHWEST DISTRICT

Arabella Martinez (Liberty Center)
Arabella graduated from Liberty Center High School, where she attained a 3.35 GPA. Arabella picked up two varsity letters in both track and cross country and one in basketball. She also helped lead the Lady Tigers basketball team to a district championship her freshman year. Arabella plans to attend Bowling Green State University to pursue a degree in recreational therapy.
 

SOUTHEAST DISTRICT

 

Sarah Robles ( The Plains Athens)                                                                                                                                                  Sarah wrapped up her high school career in the top 10 of the Athens High School graduating class with a 4.0 GPA. She competed in tennis and swimming, where she earned three varsity letters and one letter, respectively. Sarah was elected co-captain of the tennis team her senior year and plans to attend Ohio University to study business, pre-medicine or journalism.

 

SOUTHWEST DISTRICT

  Allison Chin (Tipp City Tippecanoe)
After finishing her academic career with a 4.0 GPA, Allison graduated from Tippecanoe High School in the top 10 of her class. She participated in cross country and track, where she earned four and three letters, respectively. Allison was named All-League her senior year in cross country. She plans to pursue a math/science degree at the College of Wooster.
